Like the energy that flows through our bodies, this workshop will start from the ground up explaining the ancient methodology of the Chakras which lie within the body. Often misunderstood in our Western context, this workshop
aims to shed light and understanding on the true meanings, functions, and
roles of each of the seven Chakras. Moving from the center outward, the
ultimate goal of this workshop is to provide students with the tools they
need in order to incorporate knowledge of these energy fields into their own
physical and spiritual practice Come join us on Friday (date) and Saturday
(date) to reassess and reinvigorate your own energy channels.

Join Amber Friday evening to begin your exploration into the Chakras. Starting at the base of the body, the first (muladhara) and second
(svadhistana) chakras, will be investigated. Commencing with a short
discussion as to the nature and function of these chakras, the class will
then be led through a creative writing exercise which will then be followed
by a physical practice involving mainly standing and hip opening postures.
The workshop will close with a guided meditation that will be rooted in an
understanding of these chakras.

During this workshop we will focus on a powerful practice including pranayama techniques, twisting, chest opening, arm balances, and chanting. Starting with a guided creative writing exercise and finishing with guided meditation. The third through fifth chakras are those which directly relate to the self and the self’s creative and communicative capacities. This workshop will focus on cultivating and exploring these energy channels through pranayama techniques and chanting as well as through physical twisting, chest opening, and arm balancing. Beginning with a creative writing exercise and closing with guided meditation, Amber will fully survey and illuminate the key aspects of the manipura, anahata, vissudha chakras.

A physical practice focusing on cultivating deeper self awareness and
connection to intuition including inversions. Through this practice you
will cultivate clarity and peace. We will continue with pranayama, finish
with meditation, and a guided writing exercise.
We come together as beings of the universe, as those who share a universal
and archetypal bond in our humanity as well as our connection with the
universe: both the sixth (Ajna) and seventh (Sahasrara) chakras channel this
universal and archetypal energy. In an attempt to cultivate clarity and
peace, Amber will lead the class through a practice of self-awareness
involving inversions, which connect us to our intuition. Continuing with
pranayama and meditative practice, the class will close with a final writing
exercise that will allow each student to track his/her evolution throughout
the workshop.
As a certified teacher of Hatha and Vinyasa yoga, Amber focuses on the subtle aspects of practice by incorporating meditation, alignment, breath, and mindfulness in an appropriately vigorous class. She uses intention as direction with an emphasis on cultivating the student’s awareness of what they personally need from their practice. Through this style of yoga, Amber believes passionately that yoga practice reveals one's true nature and purpose for being (dharma). With this awareness the student opens to experiencing the world in a more joyful way.
Amber's yoga practice began long before her asana practice. At the age of 21, she engrossed herself in the study of Eastern Religions & Philosophy and subsequently moved to Japan under the guidance of one of a professor. While living in Japan, she meditated daily for a year.
She took her first yoga class in Chicago seven years ago because she heard it would relieve back pain. She practically floated down the street after her first class and has been hooked ever since. While attending Columbia College Chicago as a Poetry major, she took a Hatha Yoga course that introduced her to Sanskrit and a deeper knowledge of the poses. Shortly after she was introduced to Moksha Yoga Center through a fellow waitress who attended classes regularly, her life has been completely transformed. Amber states, "Moksha is the studio and sacred space that allowed me to discover who I really am and my purpose for being."
