Teri Leigh was barely ten years old when she performed her first yoga pose and discovered that her ability to see energy, auras, and chakras was a unique gift. Struggling to give language to the glorious and amazing world of her vision, TeriLeigh majored in Creative Writing and Literary Studies at Beloit College in Wisconsin. |
| She admired the world of literary allusions, mythology, metaphor, and symbolism as an outlet for verbally expressing the intricate layers of existence. She became a high school English teacher in 1992, but distraught by the state of the world and her own denial of her spirituality, TeriLeigh suffered chronic depression from 1994-2001 when she discovered yoga again.Through her recovery from clinical depression, TeriLeigh realized that her disease was a direct result of absence of spirituality in and denial of her higher power. She realized that yoga not only curbed the depression better than medication and psychotherapy combined, but also provided the spiritual outlet she had long craved. Since committing to a six days a week yoga practice, TeriLeigh has grown 2.5 inches, straightened out a lifelong scoliosis in her thoracic spine, erased all residual symptoms of clinical depression, conquered all effects of post traumatic stress disorder, and switched careers from teaching high school to teaching yoga & spirituality full-time. | |
