Becky Raines, CYT
Becky Raines is a passionate educator who has spent a decade teaching music to Chicago Public School students. She demonstrated her commitment and dedication to the teaching profession by achieving National Board Certification in Music, an educator’s highest credential. Becky believes teaching is her dharma, and is constantly seeking to refine her craft, as she facilitates her students’ journeys on the path to greater knowledge.
Becky came to yoga as a lifelong devotee of both music and movement, and her classes are constructed with a strong awareness of rhythm and flow. She composes sequences with the intention of awakening the body and cultivating joy in her students. She strives to teach a complete yoga practice, that incorporates more than just challenging asanas. Becky presents her students with lessons on the yogic lifestyle, and her classes will often include chanting, quotes from the yoga sutras, thoughts on the yamas and niyamas, and guided meditations. Becky firmly believes in yoga’s ability to positively impact lives, and hopes to inspire a sense of curiosity in her students as they discover the transformational power of this ancient practice.
Becky is an avid traveler with a deep desire to learn from diverse experiences. She has spent time studying drum and dance in Guinea, West Africa, and crossed Europe on a quest to explore new cultures. Her travels have led her to the realization that we all share the same struggles, the same joys, and the same breath. Yoga cultivates this larger sense of unity, and leads us forward on a path to personal growth.
