James Tennant
James Tennant has been practicing yoga for the past 10 years and has been sharing his experiences and lessons for 8 of those years through teaching and consulting. He is currently enrolled in the Ayurvedic Studies Program at the Ayurvedic Institute in New Mexico and will be finishing his last few semesters starting in January of '08. Ayurveda is an ancient East Indian science and medicine.
James has had many teachers influence him throughout the years. he was first exposed to
asana practice and ethics of yoga through
Jeri Lucas, a teacher that studied under Indra Devi and lived in Indiana. That began an engaging experience of picking up as many books as he could get his hands on and afford and started teaching himself a posture everyday.
As his practice progressed he started taking classes and then his first teacher training which was with Ana Forrest. Other major influences that guided him to pursue deeper studies and teaching were Quinn Kerney, a teacher training with Andrey Lappa, and extensive studies with Dharma Mittra while living in New York. Within the past few years, ayurveda has become more prevelent in his life and so came the decision to study the system with one of the most reknowned Ayurvedic physicians and teachers in the world, Dr. Vasant Lad.
Studying with James will expose you to many different elements from many different forms. He does his best to teach the individual intuitivly, using these different techniques and his own experiences with them. Even in a classroom situation, with many students, several variations and modifications are given so that the practice is as suitable as it can be and most enjoyable for everyone that's present. Some ayurvedic principles are discussed and applied throughout the class, helping students to understand their
own individualized nature and the relationship with the envoirnment around them.
He is inspired by his students and is humbled to be in the presence of so many pursuing these Higher goals and the Light that is within them all. |
