Mercedes Gomez, CYT
Mercedes Gomez stepped on the path healing through Yoga in 2001, she suffered from chronic pain and limited range of motion in various parts of her body. In 2002 Mercedes began in-depth studies at Moksha Yoga Center through the work-study program and completed her teacher certification in 2005.Not only did Yoga provide the physical relief she was looking for, she also found increased mental and emotional stability as well as clarity in her life. In her classes you can experience and learn how to breathe mindfully and develop a deeper understanding of your own body. Her teachers include Seane Corn, Eddie Modestini, Nicki Doane, Paul Weitz, Kim Wilcox and Daren Friesen of Moksha Yoga Center.
Mercedes combines over 10 years of experience as a massage therapist to help educate her students on basic anatomy and alignment in a non-competitive environment. In 2008 she began her work with Richard Miller and completed her first training in Yoga Nidra. Yoga Nidra is a more meditative style of Yoga that has been found to help and assist in the healing of trauma or PTSD. If we can learn to remain calm and be compassionate to ourselves in our practice, we will carry that with us off the mat. Yoga helps to restore us to our natural state of peace. Mercedes’ classes vary in styles designed for beginners and seasoned students alike. All are welcome!
