"All yoga is therapeutic, whether it is passive or dynamic. What makes an intelligent yoga practice therapeutic is not one or the other, but whether or not it addresses the needs of the practitioners.” ~ Leeann Carey

This weekend training focuses on the passive (BEING) and Savasana (STILL) segments of an asana practice. You will learn and practice how strategic and creative prop placement meets the unique needs of your students in a restorative yoga format. It includes a thorough breakdown of restorative yoga therapy poses so you can apply them with your students in a group or private setting, and addresses “class mapping” for physiological outcomes.

The training is designed to elevate your teaching “eye” so you build on teaching, rather than leading. Teachers often report that they learn more about the classic poses and how to trouble-shoot challenges simply by addressing them restoratively with prop support. It’s a beautiful thing!

The Restorative Yoga Intensive Teaching Manual is included and will be emailed to all participants ahead of time. It is the participants responsibility to print the manual and bring it to the first day of class. Also, everyone must purchase Leeann’s book, Restoratvie Yoga Therapy: The Yapana Way to Self-Care & Well Being (New World Library 2015) prior to the weekend. It can be found on here.

There will be a lunch break both days.

About Leeann Carey

Yoga found Leeann Carey in the late 1970s, and hasn’t left her since.
Leeann opened the first full-service yoga studio in her community of Southern California almost 20 years ago, where she developed important skills for operating a successful ‘yoga business’. Her eclectic blend of yoga, forged over many years of study with such teachers as Kofi Busia, Donna Farhi, Erich Schiffmann, and Judith Lasater just to name a few, appeals to a wide range of students. Leeann shares that knowledge today, both personally and through the LCY mentors.

Leeann has mastered the old techniques and developed some new ones that help any student, young or old, fit or physically challenged, improve their performance and their lives. She has used her knowledge and experience to help professional athletes, such as the World Champion LA Lakers and Olympic Gold Medal Volleyball player Eric Fonoimoana, heal from injuries and improve their workouts. And Leeann uses a warm heart and a skilled touch to help set those suffering from chronic health issues on a healthy path.
