About Leeann Carey

Yoga found Leeann Carey in the late 1970s, and hasn’t left her since.
Leeann opened the first full-service yoga studio in her community of Southern California almost 20 years ago, where she developed important skills for operating a successful ‘yoga business’. Her eclectic blend of yoga, forged over many years of study with such teachers as Kofi Busia, Donna Farhi, Erich Schiffmann, and Judith Lasater just to name a few, appeals to a wide range of students. Leeann shares that knowledge today, both personally and through the LCY mentors.

Leeann has mastered the old techniques and developed some new ones that help any student, young or old, fit or physically challenged, improve their performance and their lives. She has used her knowledge and experience to help professional athletes, such as the World Champion LA Lakers and Olympic Gold Medal Volleyball player Eric Fonoimoana, heal from injuries and improve their workouts. And Leeann uses a warm heart and a skilled touch to help set those suffering from chronic health issues on a healthy path.

”I met Leeann...while I was finishing teacher training at Moksha. I attended her workshop with my wife, who was a beginner to yoga at the time. Leeann teaches in a way that reaches both a teacher and a beginner. We both took home a great deal of new skills that we use in our regular practice in very practical ways. Leeann’s teaching style is intended to support and extend our life force. She has a beautiful way of warming the body up with a vinyasa practice and moving it toward a restorative practice once the body is warmed and ready to move deeper into longer holds and more gentle openings. Her decades of personal practice and teaching invite you in and challenge you in subtle ways to move more deeply into the practice. Pushing harder doesn’t allow us to move more deeply into our practice. Moving gently with awareness helps us expand our consciousness allowing us to go places that we hadn’t imagined before. Leeann helps us as students and gives us tools as teachers to do just that.” -Joe Yonek
