The Higher Taste is a practical course designed to help you prepare authentic Yogic meals in your home and to introduce you to the tradition behind India’s great vegetarian cuisine. We will cover not only some of the techniques of Vedic, or classical Indian, vegetarian cooking, but also an overview on the Vedic art of eating, which nourishes the body, mind, and soul.
Join Subala and a group of like-minded people in Chicago’s West Bucktown to explore the art of cooking incredibly tasty and healthy food! In these classes, you will learn a variety of dishes, flavors, smells, textures, and colors to make your life better. And you’ll most certainly walk away finding your kitchen a more comfortable, useful, and inspiring place, no matter who you are! The classes approach is inspired by the Ayurvedic tradition, a 5,000-year-old lineage of holistic medicine that comes from India. It applies to practically any style of cooking, culture, or circumstance.
This is a monthly one-session class that introduces you to the art of making delicious easy-to-make vegetarian meals. You will gain a basic understanding of:
• Principles of what makes food healthy.
• An overview of how to use spices and make spice mixtures.
• The secrets of making sure your food is easy to digest and assimilate.
Each class will combine discussion, participatory cooking demonstrations, and ends with a delicious meal for everyone!
