Depression, Anxiety and Stress, along with other negative emotions, are escalating at alarming rates worldwide. Despite attempts to curb these through conventional approaches such as medicine, professional counseling, and technology, there are no signs of abatement. This interactive workshop introduces the participant to the process of meditation as a time-tested and scientific method of overcoming negative emotions. Topics that will be discussed include practical models of understanding the root cause of negative emotions, 4 keys to successfully navigating such emotions and practical tips for a successful meditation experience.
Workshop Facilitator: Yamuna Jivana Das
Yamuna has been a bhakti yogi practitioner for 15 years with a dedicated 3-hour daily meditation practice. Since the ripe age of 15, Yamuna has been inquiring into a variety of teachings and practices that would enrich and direct his inner life. In addition to working as a senior engineer and project leader, he and his wife have dedicated themselves over the last decade to offer training and counseling to college student communities in the midwest area in the rich wisdom tradition of Bhakti yoga hailing from South Asia.
After living on 4 different continents through his life, his family has recently moved to Chicago to continue their contribution to the world of yoga and meditation. Those who have received guidance from him, consider Yamuna a warm, humoristic and thoughtful person who genuinely cares about the well-being of others.
