When yoga became a part of Kahrin's life, it was like an awakening. She says she will never forget the feeling of simultaneous lightness and grounding, how uplifted yet centered she felt, when she left Moksha that day. While Kahrin still loves the physical bliss that follows practice, over time yoga has enriched her life with even greater gifts. More peace and balance. Healthier patterns for handling stress, anxiety and loss. And a willingness to be present, to be curious, and to be devoted to the work of living a purposeful life.
After an idyllic childhood in the Aleutian Islands and the Alaskan interior, Kahrin chose to adventure in the "lower 48" and eventually made her home in Chicago, pursuing a career in writing and marketing. Kahrin has found that yoga helps her to feel balance and connection in the midst of a busy, urban environment and while running a small digital agency.
Kahrin received her yoga teaching certification from Moksha Yoga Center under the guidance of Daren Friesen in 2017. She is very grateful to have had the opportunity to attend workshops with many other teachers, including Aadil Palkhivala, Leeann Carey, and Gabriel Halpern. Kahrin is always continuing her study of yoga with specialized trainings and a committed personal practice. She also continues to learn from so many talented teachers in the Chicago area.
"Yoga has been transformative in my life, and it is a true honor for me to have the opportunity to share this practice with others, learning side by side with those around me," says Kahrin.
In Kahrin's classes, she emphasizes creating a strong mind-body-spirit connection with breath awareness and language that explores how it feels to be inside your body. Balancing both the physical and spiritual, Kahrin's challenging sequences build heat, but also focus on moving mindfully in a manner that is compassionate to your body and to your range of motion. Above all, it is Kahrin's intention to create a supportive and safe environment for self-discovery - where you can also be playful, get a good workout and have some fun.
