As a high school senior, Sara was introduced to yoga asana in an East Asian History class. Every Friday, Sara enjoyed practicing shavasana, unaware that the first seed of yoga was being planted. After graduating from pharmacy school and entering the corporate world, a deep, profound discontentment brewed inside of her. In search of the root of her discontent, she rediscovered her practice in 2012. It began with vinyasa and restorative yoga as a complement to running. As her practice grew, Sara became intrigued by the deeper layers of yoga. Naturally, she was drawn to the practice of Ashtanga yoga, in its ability to ground, discipline, and provide stability. The positive effects she experienced from her yoga practice fueled her drive to become a yoga teacher. Under the guidance of Daren Friesen, Sara completed her 200-hour teacher training at Moksha Yoga in 2018.
Sara loves to travel, learning new languages and embracing different cultures along the way. Her favorite place is being in the ocean. Sara enjoys studying the Sutras of Patanjali and the Eight Limbs of Yoga. Sara's favorite poses include eka pada koundinyasana and viparita karani. Sara aspires to create an open space for all beings to practice yoga with self-love, acceptance, and a deeper connection to our true nature. In Sara's classes, students will practice asana with a focus on intention, breath, and alignment.
