Yoga for the Nervous System Workshop

The Yoga for the Nervous System workshop is designed to help participants regulate their nervous system through a combination of restorative asana, calming pranayama, and grounding meditation. In this interactive workshop, you’ll explore the branches of your nervous system and how the ancient practice of yoga can bring your nervous system into a more balanced and regulated state, enhancing your overall well-being. Students will be guided through a brief presentation on the nervous system and how our bodies respond and adapt to stress. The presentation will be followed by a yoga practice that incorporates this knowledge through pranayama (breathing techniques), dhyana (meditation), and asana (poses). The workshop will end with a brief Q&A section. We hope to see you there!

About Your Teacher…

Marissa’s journey into yoga began in 2012 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she instantly fell in love with the practice. For the next twelve years, she mostly frequented corporate studios, where the focus was on heated asana classes. However, these sessions often left her with a dysregulated nervous system and a sense of confusion, questioning if yoga should offer a more grounding and peaceful experience. It wasn’t until Marissa discovered Moksha Yoga Studio that her practice truly flourished, allowing her to experience the profound benefits of a dedicated yoga practice.

Alongside her dedication to yoga, Marissa is pursuing graduate studies to become a licensed mental health counselor. She is passionate about integrating somatic, body-oriented therapeutic modalities, such as yoga, within the traditional talk therapy model. Marissa believes that true healing arises when we attune to and honor our body’s inner wisdom.vIn her classes, Marissa weaves together meditation, pranayama, and asana, guiding students to strengthen their connection to mind, body, and spirit. She fosters a warm, nonjudgmental environment where students can safely explore and deepen their practice.

Yoga for a Cause: A Series of Donation-Based Classes
sponsored by Moksha Yoga’s Teachers-in-Training

Join us for a transformative series of yoga classes that not only nurture your body and soul but also make a meaningful impact on our community. At Moksha Yoga Center, we believe in the power of collective action and the ability of yoga to inspire positive change. That’s why we are excited to launch “Yoga for a Cause,” a special series where all donations will directly support, helping those in need.

Each Moksha teacher trainee is required to teach a workshop for their teacher training certification final with a topic of their choice and donations given to charity. These classes are open to all levels, whether you’re a seasoned practitioner or new to yoga. Our skilled instructors will guide you through practices that emphasize mindfulness, balance, and connection, while fostering a spirit of generosity and compassion. By participating, you’ll not only deepen your practice but also contribute to a greater good. Every breath, every pose, every moment on the mat becomes an act of giving, supporting vital programs that uplift lives. Let’s come together, stretch beyond our limits, and create ripples of kindness that extend far beyond the studio. Your presence matters, and so does your contribution.
